QuickBooks Online sync error: Business Validation Error: Please make the parent account active first. Then you can make this sub-account active

Why the sync error occurs

This error occurs when a GL account is trying to sync from Bill.com℠ to QuickBooks Online, but the selected parent account is inactive in QuickBooks Online or Bill.com.


How to fix the sync error

There are three options to resolve this issue:

  • Reactivate the parent account in Bill.com or QuickBooks Online and sync again
  • Edit the account and change the parent account in Bill.com or QuickBooks Online and sync again
  • Edit the account and remove the parent account in Bill.com or QuickBooks Online and sync again
