How to add/nominate a user to a bank account
After you add a verified bank account to your BILL account, you can add additional users to pay bills from that bank account.
Only users verified on a bank account can add other users to use that same bank account. The added user must have the required Pay permissions set by their role assigned before being added.
Roles with pay permissions include:
- Payers
- Administrators
- Custom roles with at least the Pay approved bills via Bill.com setting enabled

Select Bank Accounts under Your Company if your Settings page looks like this:

- Select the Bank Account Number on the account the user will be added to
- Select Add on the Bank Account page
- Select the user to add from the dropdown and select Save
We send the added user an email asking them to log in to BILL and complete their bank authorization setup.

- Select the Bank Account Number you were added to
- You can also select the pending to do list item "Finish setting up bank account ****XXXX"
- Select Details next to your name
- Select Complete Setup
You'll then be taken through the identity verification process. Once identity verification is complete, you'll have access to that bank account to pay bills and/or receive payments in BILL.
Check if you're authorized on a bank account

- Select the Bank Account Number
Under the Authorized User section, you'll see your username there if you:
- added the bank account
- were added by another bank authorized user
You're authorized if you see Verified under Authorization Status next to your name. If you're still in Nominated status, you just need to go through identity verification to become verified. Check your to do list for next steps.
If you aren't verified or nominated on a bank account, ask another user listed as verified under the Authorized User section to nominate you.
Things to know
- This feature is for advanced (paid monthly subscription) accounts only
- You must complete the identity verification process while logged in to BILL on a computer. You won't be able to complete the identity verification process in the BILL mobile app.
- Once a user has been verified, you cannot edit their name, because we've verified their identity to allow them to use the bank account
- If they have legally changed their name, contact Customer Support by selecting Contact Us at the top of this page to request a name change
- If a bank authorized users role is changed to a role without bank permissions, they won't be able to nominate other users unless their role is updated to a role with bank permissions.
